Clearway’s originators use RenewaFi to follow pricing trends in the BESS offtake market

Challenge

Clearway, one of the largest renewable energy companies in the United States, has been developing BESS projects in ERCOT and was seeking reliable market data to help guide their team’s pricing strategy for projects. Clearway typically gathers feedback directly from potential counterparties, which helps to inform their view of market demand and pricing.  Earlier stage BESS projects, however, are more challenging for customers to react to. This creates a lack of clear, actionable pricing feedback. Clearway needed a reliable and data-driven view of the evolving ERCOT BESS market.

Clearway uses the RenewaFi Price Tracker to reference the estimated energy arbitrage value for various BESS contract structures across ERCOT’s regions. The tracker enables Clearway’s team to collect valuable pricing feedback relative to competitors’ offers and market signals as well as to monitor trends over time.
